Why does finishing decide lead time more often than machining does?

Surface treatment is where most sheet metal schedules slip, for a structural reason rather than a technical one. Cutting and forming are usually in house and can be re-scheduled; plating, anodising and specialist coatings are often outsourced, and an outsourced operation sits in someone else's queue. Every transfer also adds handling damage risk on a cosmetic surface that has already had value added to it. The practical question for you is therefore not which finishes we list, but who schedules them and who is accountable for the result. YBT offers polishing, powder coating, liquid paint and plating, schedules them as part of the same job, checks coating thickness and salt spray performance on its own equipment, and assembles finished units in the same plant, which is why finishing and assembly appear as one page here rather than two.

Questions you may have

Which finishes are done in house?

Polishing, powder coating, liquid paint and plating are all offered. YBT schedules the finishing step inside the job and verifies the result on its own salt spray chamber and coating thickness gauge, so the finish is covered by the quoted lead time and by YBT’s responsibility for the part.

Can you assemble to a finished, packed unit?

Yes, this is the basis of the ODM offering. Finished units are assembled, packed in the customer’s retail carton with manual, and loaded into the container at the plant; indicative output is about 3,000 finished appliances a month.

Do you test coating durability?

Yes. A salt spray test chamber is used for corrosion performance on coated and stainless parts, and coating thickness is checked with a film thickness gauge against the specification.

Can you pack to our retail carton design?

Yes. Carton and packing design are produced to customer requirement as part of an ODM build.
