Precision Sheet Metal Components
Components with critical dimensions held to ±0.05 mm stamped and ±0.1 mm laser cut, inspected against the drawing before and during production.
What makes a sheet metal component precision rather than standard?
Precision in sheet metal is not one tolerance applied to a whole part. It is a small number of critical dimensions, usually mounting hole positions, mating faces and overall envelope, held tighter than the general tolerance while everything else stays at standard. Treating a whole part as precision multiplies cost without improving fit. The practical approach is for the drawing to identify which features are critical and what the functional requirement is, so process route and inspection can be planned around those features specifically. YBT quotes against a drawing that marks critical dimensions and inspects those features against the drawing before production release and during the run rather than only at final. Stamped features are held to ±0.05 mm and laser-cut profiles to ±0.1 mm.
